Six months until Summer Camp!

I am so excited...I will be going to summer camp for the first time in my 40 years. Golden Gate Fiber Festival will be hosting the likes of Nancy Bush (Knitting on the Road, Knitting Vintage Socks, etc.), Darlene Hayes (Hand Jive Yarns), Sara Lamb, and several other fiber artists notable in the their fields.

My whole reason for going is to study natural dyeing techniques under Darlene Hayes. What an opportunity! It will be six days of intensive study. Count me in.

BIG Box o'Yarn

One BIG box of yarn arrived yesterday. I can't wait to get started dyeing it to put it into my etsy store. I'm having the harderst time chosing colors! I'm trying to think Spring, but everything I like is dark. I believe that the challenge of dyeing yarn, will be to perceive what others will want instead of what I want. We'll see...

Have you ever thought about the whole "perception of color"? Do colors really have meaning or symbolism? Why do certain colors make you feel sad, happy, calm or energetic? Are they the same for everyone? Is there a psychology to color? I think this requires a little further investigation.

Hello!

Welcome to Fresh Yarn: a place for sock knitters. I'm a fiber enthusist, a sock knitter and a dyer of wool sock yarns. My goal is to review sock yarns, indie hand dyed products, seek out patterns, and have fun with our craft!

Grab a cuppa coffee/tea, and spend some time here, or leave a comment!

Cheers.
